On 2nd of March 2010, Imperial College Press author Dr Paul May from the University of Bristol gave a talk at University College London based on his book Molecules with Silly or Unusual Names. Drawn from his popular website of the same name, one of the first websites on chemistry, Molecules with Silly or Unusual Names celebrates the quirky side of scientific nomenclature. During the talk, Dr May highlighted some humorous examples where molecules have been given unusual, rude, ridiculous or downright silly names.
Sponsored by the Society of Chemical Industry and organised by the Chemical and Physical Society at University College London, it was a lively talk followed afterwards by wine and refreshments and an opportunity to meet the author.
